Description
The Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts is pleased to announce our popular Salon series in spring 2010. We will feature a series of special art events on the 4th Thursday of the month featuring concerts and lectures on the arts. The events will be held at the historic Turner House, home of the OCSFA, as part of our mission to be a resource for art and architecture. On Thursday, February 25, Jampact will present an evening of jazz from 7:30 – 9.
On Thursday March 25th, Heather MacDonald, an enthusiastic Oak Cliff resident, will speak on the exhibition The Lens of Impressionism: Photography and Painting along the Normandy Coast, 1850-1874. Dr. MacDonald is the curator for the Dallas Museum of Art venue of this fascinating exhibition, on view at the DMA from February 21 to May 23, 2010. The exhibit is an exploration of Impressionist painting’s response to early photography within the context of a specific geographic locale, the coast of Normandy. Dr. MacDonald is the Lillian and James H. Clark Associate Curator of European Art.
Turner House is located at 401 N. Rosemont, 75208. The presentations will all take place between 7:30 and 9 pm. Refreshments will be served. Tickets will be $15 for non-members and $10 for OCSFA members. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through our website, www.turnerhouse.org.
